Single-ply flat roofing membranes have grown in popularity over the past 40 years due to their flexibility, ease of installation, and competitive price.
EPDM Roofing Systems
Durability, design versatility and installation ease are among the many reasons ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) is a very popular material for both new and reroof low-slope roofing applications. EPDM roofing systems are based on a high-performance synthetic rubber compound that provides outstanding weathering characteristics in climates worldwide. EPDM systems can be ballasted, mechanically attached, or fully adhered. EPDM membrane thickness ranges from 45 mil (.045") to 90 mil (.090") with the most common thicknesses being 45 mil and 60 mil. The seams are sealed using either an adhesive or a splice tape.
TPO Roofing Systems
TPO membranes are single-ply roof membranes constructed from ethylene propylene rubber. They are designed to combine the durability of rubber with the proven performance of heat wieldable seams. They have been tested as having excellent resistance to ozone, are algae-resistant, environmentally friendly and safe to install. TPO is highly resistant to tears, with good flexibility to allow for building movement. TPO's are available in white, light gray, and black with thicknesses of either 45 mil (.045"), 60 mil (.060"), 72 mil (.072”), or 90 mil (.090”). Click pictures below to view
There are three standard application procedures for single-ply systems:
• Fully adhered
• Mechanically attached
• Ballasted – held in place with river rock or concrete pavers
Roof Maintenance is a complete roof evaluation system, which for pennies a square foot, can ultimately be priceless to a building owner. We have been providing this comprehensive roof evaluation report to our current clients for the past several years, and the positive feedback has been so overwhelming we decided to extend this offer to new clients as well.
Weather can wreak havoc on low slope and flat roofing systems. Even though you may not have experienced actual leakage in your roof system, there can be tremendous wear and tear on your roof during the change in seasons.
How it Works:
A member of our estimating team will schedule an appointment to conduct a thorough roofing system analysis at your facility. They will take measurements, take photos and document their observations. From the data collected a comprehensive report will be prepared for you. This report will include details, and photos. It will also include written descriptions ranging from the overall condition down to specific details such as flashing and penetrations. Finally we evaluate this evidence and provide short and long term recommendations for your roof, in clear, concise language.
How it Works For You:
The most obvious way this benefits you is in locating potential trouble spots so you may address them before it becomes critical. Many times this will help you prolong the life of your roof system, saving money and headaches. Furthermore, this is a professional record documenting your roof conditions, and can be used as a tool in future decisions about roofing. The quality of the details can be appreciated by construction professionals
